How it was. I'm glad to have a record. Some kind of 1960's vinyl white floor covering with sparkles had been installed on the counter tops and served for the back splash. This material was rapidly deteriorating, I think well on the way to eventually becoming a crumbling brown goo. The original varnished wood tops built in 1910 had been removed at the time this covering had been installed. The drawers had completely worn down and would no longer pull open or shut. We decided tile counter tops might be a better idea.
